During 2007, the final installment of the Harry Potter series was published and one would expect that this would mean that the children's and adolescent book industry must be doing well. I mean everybody has been reading Harry Potter, right?
Well, it is more complicated than that. Pottermania has been exciting, but generally it hasn't meant more reading--just different reading. People who would have ordinarily bought other books, bought Potter instead, and sales overall have been down a bit.
